ABOUT US

The Mather Funeral Home was founded in 1916 by S. Southard Mather.  Mr. Mather actively ran the day to day operations of the funeral home until he was joined by his son Maurice A. Mather in 1940.  In 1942 Maurice Mather enlisted in the United States Army serving in the 82nd Airborne. “Morrie”, as known by his friends, returned in 1945 to run the family business until 1971.

R. Peter Hodge joined S. Southard and Maurice A. Mather to assist in the running of the family business. In August of 1971 the funeral home was purchased by Mr. Hodge and became known as the Mather-Hodge Funeral Home.

R. Peter Hodge served on active duty in the United States Army and later in the United States Army Reserves. R. Peter Hodge served as an officer in the Princeton Fire Department becoming Chief in 1985 and served as a Trustee of Princeton Hook and Ladder. He also served as a Trustee and Treasurer on the board of the Princeton Public Library and the Princeton Township Board of Appeals. He was a member of the Princeton United Methodist Church having served on various committees. A past charter member and trustee of the Mercer County 200 Club, a member of the Princeton Lodge # 38 F. & A.M. , the Crescent Shriners , and a proud Rotarian since 1971.  

In August of 2003 Albert D. Correnti, Jr. and John A. Oliveti acquired the Mather-Hodge Funeral Home.

Albert is a member of St. Paul ’s Church, Princeton , Knights of Columbus, Sons of Italy, the Executive Club of the Princeton Family YMCA, Italian National Hall of Fame,  Past President of the San Francesco di Bisignano Society. Former member of the Lion’s Club, receiving  Lion of the Year Award in 1990. Albert is Licensed in New Jersey , New York and Pennsylvania and is a Member of the New Jersey State Funeral Directors Association and the Mercer County Funeral Directors Association.

John is a member of St. Cecilia’s Church, Monmouth Junction, the Knights of Columbus, Member and Past President of the Hightstown-South Brunswick Rotary, the Executive Club of the Princeton Family YMCA, a member of the South Brunswick Lions Club, the Sons of Italy,  John is Licensed in New Jersey, New York and Pennsylvania and is a Member of the New Jersey State Funeral Directors Association and the Mercer County Funeral Directors Association


Albert D. Correnti III started working at the funeral home at the age of 16 through the work program at his high school. From the start he felt as if he was destined to be a Funeral Director. He graduated from Steinert High School in 2007. He attended Mercer County Community College in the Funeral Service Program and served his internship while in school. Albert graduated in 2010 and earned his Associates Degree in Business Management – Funeral Service Preparatory and Certificate of Proficiency in Funeral Service. He became a licensed funeral director in September of 2010. A true professional, who pays close attention to every detail. Albert will help any family in need to the best of his ability. Albert is honored to be of service to families during their loss of their loved one. He has the highest respect of the quality and service offered to every family going through the most difficult time of their lives.


Anthony J. Correnti graduated from Steinert High School in 2010. He attended Mercer County Community College in the Funeral Service Program and served his internship while in school. He graduated in 2013 and earned his Associates Degree in Business Management – Funeral Service Preparatory and Certificate of Proficiency in Funeral Service. He became a licensed funeral director in August of 2013. Anthony is a member of the Mercer County Funeral Directors Association. Anthony is attentive and dedicated to providing families with the best service in the most difficult of times.
